Many players gamble and drink at the same time. A couple of drinks is one thing, but a
constant flow of alcohol can influence a player’s judgment. A drunk player can get drunk
brave at exactly the wrong time. Drinking gives some players a reason for losing which they
need to have so they cannot blame their bad play on the person that did it, themselves.
At a live casino the house will normally give a player all of the drinks that they want. The
house is well aware that drinking removes inhibitions for many players. A small losing streak
can be made very bad very quickly by a drunk player. Many smart players drink fruit juices
as their preferred drink. This is a very good idea as the fruit juice keeps the player hydrated
and helps the player stay focused for a longer period of time.
There are exceptions to this and players that can drink like a fish and still play at their A game
level. However that is the minority and not the norm. Most players should gamble or drink,
but not both at the same time. Players that only drink occasionally should forgo booze all
together when they gamble. The liberating effect of booze can make a player less risk
adverse. Without this controlling factor, a player can lose more money than they ever should
have lost. Getting drunk and losing money is a lot easier than getting drunk and winning.
Enjoy a cocktail with dinner or before the gaming starts, but that is about it for people who do
not drink all of the time. A person that has a high tolerance for booze can do just about what
they want. Some folks can drink like a fish and their cards never seem to be effected. Others
one drink and you would think that they had been on a bender for a week. There are players
that need a drink to just be a little relaxed when they play or they cannot listen to their
hunches. There are players that are so confident of their innate ability that nothing seems to
phase them under any circumstances. Bad beats roll off of them like rain off a rain slicker.
When they miss a draw that would have won them a big pot, they just say to themselves that
they will get the card next time. This placid demeanor is a hard shell to crack for most of their
opponents.
