Rules for BlackJack

Sure, BlackJack is fast paced – but it isn’t that complex of a game. As long as you can keep up with the speed of the game, this is a very exciting and fun casino game to take part in. Learning the rules for BlackJack is important since this will allow you the foundation to play the game in its quick paced natural environment. Let’s begin by examining the most basic of BlackJack rules, the card values.
When playing BlackJack, players are dealt two cards. The point of BlackJack is to obtain twenty-one points, without going over, or to be closest to twenty-one – again, without going over this point limit. It is also possible to win when the dealer busts – or goes over twenty-one points. So how are points calculated for this game? It is very simple:
The Ace: An ace can be worth eleven points or one point, depending on which would most benefit the player’s hand.
The Face Cards (Jack, Queen, King): All of these cards are worth ten points each.
Number Cards: The number cards are assigned their face value. For example, a two is worth two points, a three is worth three points and so on.
The only way to hit BlackJack with two cards is to get an Ace (played as eleven points) and a face card or a ten, any of which would be worth ten points. Ten points plus the eleven point Ace equals twenty-one points – that all important number in the game of BlackJack.

More BlackJack Strategies 2

There are many casino and gambling sites which offer their participants the opportunity to take part in online BlackJack games. This particular casino card game is an easy one for most people to pick up. It has simple rules and is fast paced and exciting. However enjoyable the game may be, players need to remember that it is still a gambling game. Money is still at stake. As a result, players will still want to win at BlackJack to win money and to not lose the cash they are betting on the hand. Most players will want to implement a strategy to assist them in acquiring these monetary rewards.

Knowing when to double in online BlackJack games is a very important skill to possess. Players should know when it is the best time to double in BlackJack – which is when the dealer has a stiff card. A stiff card is defined as a four, a five or a six. Players should also double eleven, unless the player is competing with an Ace. Players are also advised to double ten, again unless they are up against a specific card – a ten point card (a ten, jack, queen or king) or an ace. Never double on a hard hand. Hard hands are defined as those where one single card could bust the player.

More BlackJack Strategies

Online BlackJack is a fun game for many people. It is an easy card game with simple rules and many players have believed it to be very easy to pick up and enjoy. However enjoyable the game may be though, it is still a gambling game. Money is still at stake. As a result, people will still want to win at the game and enjoy the monetary benefits of playing BlackJack. Most players will want to implement a strategy to assist them in acquiring these monetary rewards.
Insurance is possible when it comes to online BlackJack. Many casinos will allow the game participants to take insurance if the dealer of the game has an Ace showing. If the dealer is able to hit BlackJack and the player has taken insurance, the hand is a push. If the dealer does not have BlackJack as a result of their hand, the player will have lost their bet placed for insurance purposes. This bet is equal to half of a regular bet. Continuing forward in the game, the hand will play out normally. A good strategy for a standard BlackJack game is to never take insurance. The odds of the dealer having a hidden ten are much worse than the two to one odds which are offered to players through insurance.

Strategizing for BlackJack

When it comes to playing BlackJack, there are a number of strategies one could implement in order to potentially increase their success when playing the game. For many, the best BlackJack strategy is to find a basic strategy chart and have that open on one’s computer while they are playing at an online casino or gambling environment. There is nothing illegal about this procedure. Players are free to inform themselves in this manner and it will actually work with the player in order to reduce the edge the house has over them as players.

For players who do not want to take advantage of this kind of strategizing, there are other options available.

The hit/hold strategy can be implemented easily. If the player has seventeen points or higher, they should hold and stay with the points they have. When low values are attained by the player, between 12 and 16, players should work with the game as if the dealer’s hidden card has a value of 10. In this case, players are advised to hit if there is a good chance that the player will bust. There are exceptions to this, but players will likely appreciate this rule of thumb to help them with their BlackJack play.

2009: RGA versus the USA

Recently, the Remote Gambling Association filed a complaint to the affect of the US unfairly discriminating again online casinos and gambling establishments from foreign locations, which was responded to by the European Commission. While the US had maintained its fight against this, they have dealt with the comments of the Remote Gambling Associations, including this scathing quote: “These events show that the outgoing U.S. administration and the Department of Justice have shown a total disregard for the legal rights of European online gaming companies and their stakeholders.”
Unfortunately, because of the many other pressing topics in the US government and society today, there is no timeline to address these gambling issues. Still, many expect land based casinos to start lobbying on behalf of online gambling business as a way to promote their own online gambling business – a concept which was once shied away from by such establishments because they believed it would actually take away their business as opposed to offer them more. It is anticipated that once this happens, the government’s involvement and cooperation in this area will increase quickly and things will progress much faster.
There are a number of land based casinos from Las Vegas, Nevada which are already beginning to see the conceptual benefits of online casino involvement. These would include MGM and Harrah’s. However, the laws would need to change in the US regarding the casino licensing department before these changes could take place.

2009: A Year for Fresh Starts at US Online Casinos

This might be the year for US online casino players. Players in the United States have been very hopeful that there would be changes implemented to the government’s stance on online betting, poker betting and bingo site wagering.
See, the United Kingdom government opts to control the market for online casinos with regulation. Meanwhile, the government in the United States has adopted a much more heavy handed approach to the industry. The US government has attempted to make it illegal for various companies to be able to accept casino bets and wagers from citizens in the United States. Still, companies exist within the Caribbean and South America and they continue to target the United States as casino patrons. Some of the large casinos which continue to accept US patrons include Lucky 18, Rushmore and Golden Casino.
However, recent speculation has suggested that the Utah State Representative, Sheryl Allen, may be trying to introduce some new options to the House of Representative and the US government at large. It was the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act which caused so much stress and discontent among US poker players, but Rep. Allen is hoping to defer this to state and tribal laws. It would be these smaller governments which would then decide what is legal and what is not when it comes to online gambling. While this resolution may be confusing, it does offer a great deal of hope for those who would appreciate a little more freedom when it comes to online casino experiences and opportunities.

The Origins of Gambling (Part II of II)

Yesterday we began our exploration of the origins of gambling. Today, we will continue to discuss how gambling has been implemented into the lives of humans all over the world at all different points of time.
Las Vegas was constructed in Nevada after the state legalized gambling in 1931. It was in 1978 that Atlantic City became a gambling powerhouse, and such cities and locations have been popping up ever since.
Of course, it is also important to note the 1990’s arrival of the Internet. Linking up so many individuals in cyber space allowed for a number of advancements and new opportunities. One such opportunity was online gambling. Individuals could now gamble for real money from the convenience of their own homes.
So why do so many cultures, societies and individuals around the world associate with gambling entertainment and casino opportunities? There are a number of theories about this. Some say that the world of gambling is just a reflection of the world in which we live. Chance and probability are all around us, every day, from big, cosmic events to small chance encounters. Do you have a theory about humankind’s draw to gambling? Feel free to tell us here!

The Origins of Gambling (Part I of II)

Gambling is an engaging and enticing form of entertainment that has appealed to many people. But have you ever stopped to think about how gambling got its start?

In Greek Mythology, the gods Zeus, Hades and Poseidon were said to have divided the known universe through a dice game. Dice have been found far back in history, the oldest dated at about 40,000 years. Scenes of dice games have been drawn and discovered on cave walls suggesting that such forms of entertainment were an influential part of society even then.

Chinese culture illustrates games of chance, precursors to Mah Jong, dating back to 2300 BC. Egypt, Japan, India and Italy all offer evidence of their close association with gambling and other such games.

Gambling was particularly popular in the Roman Empire. Arguably, the first high roller, Caligula was an emperor who would confiscate property in order to cover any gambling losses. Another famous historical figure was King Henry VIII of England, but he is by no means the last.
When Western cultures explored the New World, gambling practices went with them. Legal and illegal gambling institutions were set up on riverboats and all over frontier towns as a way to offer entertainment, fun, excitement and, potentially, financial rewards. Drinking and gambling may have gone underground during the 1920’s and the years of Prohibition, they obviously came back into society.
